Theatre
Oyeyeng Theatre Group was formed in 1994 as a Non-Governmental Organization that would use the concept of theatre for development to promote development in northern Uganda. Oyeyeng Theatre Group was the first formal theatre company in northern Uganda and operated widely in the Lango and Acholi sub-regions as well as performing for the Lango and Acholi communities in Kampala, Entebbe and Jinja. Oyeyeng Productions continues the theatre tradition of its predecessor organization.

Wek Abonyo Kwani (Let Abonyo Study)
Wek Abonyo Kwani is the story of Abonyo Sylvia Rose (Akello Vicky), a 13-year-old girl who wants to study, but her father Obiti Salvatorio (Laury Lawrence Ocen) and his cantankerous Son Okelokoko (Martin Ogwang Joadongo) want her to marry. Her only ally is her mother Merujoci. They attempt to force her into early marriage fails and Abonyo’s father eventually allows her to sit Primary Living Examinations with the hope that she would fail miserably, but she manages to pass very well, emerging the best performing candidate in the whole of northern Uganda.







Tong Oromo Lyec (The Spear has Overwhelmed the Elephant)
The play revolves around the predicament of Ocet Maratino, a Lango elder’s whose two twin sons Opio RPG and Ocen Commando end up in the rebel camp and in the army respectively. The ideological divide between the two sons plays out in the constant beating of their father whom the rebels accuse of hiding his army son Ocen, meanwhile the army also beat the same father for hiding the rebel, Opio RPG. When the cattle rustlers eventually invade his home, his cattle are taken and the rustlers beat Ocet Maratino severely, he decides to hang himself. The play tackles the failure of the African post colony and its impact on ordinary people.

Ojok Tye Kampala (Ojok is in Kampala)
Ojok Tye Kampala is the story of Captain Obic Wot’Omara-Omwodo-Lut-Kot, a former Captain in the Uganda National Liberation Army and commanding officer of Bombo Military Barracks. After the 1985 military overthrow of the Milton Obote II government by the General Tito Okello Lutwa Junta, Captain Obic fled to the village in Akokoro and life became very hard. He would spend time reminiscing about the good life he had before the coup and how he squandered his fortunes in voluptuous living. Obic has a cousin in Kampala called Ojok, who works with Roko Construction company, and he would drink on credit assuring the beer sellers that his cousin brother Ojok is in Kampala and will come and square up the bills.

Angwalo Dang Dano (A Disabled is a Human Being)
The play Angwalo Dang Dano written in Leblango by Okaka Opio Dokotum was commissioned by Uganda Society for Disabled (USD) to promote awareness about disability and to fight stigma. It was translated into English and into over ten Ugandan languages and performed extensively around the country between 2000 and 2001.

Dwog Paco
In Dwog Paco, Monica, a formerly abducted girl returns home expecting to regain the lost opportunities from the long wasteful years of captivity. She however suffers stigma and alienation from her immediate neighbours but is determined to survive at all cost. She gets involved in creative ventures that sees her win the award of the face of Northern Uganda. She must now change the narratives of pain, loss, suffering, and destruction into possibilities of healing, recovery, hope, and resilience. Monica becomes an agent of return, appealing to those in the Bush to come back home. In Dwog Paco, return is not just a physical return. It is a psychological, cultural, and economic cycle of restoration in which NGOs, civil societies, agencies and governments must play a part. Dwog Paco was written by Laury Laurence Ocen in 2004.
